The spirit of the 'Ho'

I wish to commend Dan Gonzalez, Sherrie Buzby, Eric Baker and the many other Republic staff members who were responsible for the magnificent article on Jan. 27 about the Westward Ho and the "colorful" residents who call the "grand hotel" home.

Gonzalez was able to catch the true spirit of the "Ho" and the residents he interviewed.

I am not a native of Phoenix and was not fortunate enough to see the Westward Ho in its full glory. But I fell in love with the building the moment I stepped inside the lobby.

I may not have walked its halls with the "rich and famous," but every day I thank God for allowing me the opportunity to learn from the current residents, individuals who are rich in memories, knowledge and friendship. - Linda Spencer
